Renowned
Vermont watercolor artist and gallery owner, Sean
Callahan joins us again this year to offer one of the most unique
art experiences imaginable. Throughout the cruise you will work on
different projects to develop a watercolor journal, which will be
supplied for you. As a participant in this experience, you will look
at colors, shapes and shadows in a whole new way!
The first afternoon will include an introduction to the materials
you will be using and the basics of watercolor washes. When we dock
in Vergennes for the evening and following dinner on the boat, Sean
will treat us to a private showing at his gallery in Vergennes, Dog
Tired Studio. Enjoy dessert and beverages in the gallery.
The next day we arrive at the Basin Harbor Club, an ideal background for a lesson in monochromatic painting. You’ll be amazed at the variations in tone and hue that just one color produces.
As we head toward Crown Point, New York, the workshop resumes with a focus on the morning’s project and an introduction of color to your work. The cruise takes us to Whitehall, New York for the evening where we will have dinner on board and continue our artistic discussions with Sean.
On our third day, cruising along the unspoiled scenery of the Adirondack Mountains, Sean delves into a detailed instruction about painting from a photograph. You will learn about using a grid system to paint from two dimensions. We sail along the New York coast line to Westport, New York, an artist’s haven in itself. There will be free time to experiment with your newly learned skills and techniques in this magnificently beautiful section of Lake Champlain. Enjoy dinner on board, followed by your own "show and tell" art show! We arrive back in Burlington the next morning at 10:15 am.
Whether this is your first stroke with a brush or your hundredth painting, this is an experience of a lifetime for artists of all levels.
