Independence Day Celebration
July 3-6

Vermont Discovery CruisesLCMM welcomes Vermont Discovery Cruises guests to find common ground in the values of liberty and independence. Take a tour of the museum’s Key to Liberty Building as well as the replica Revolutionary War gunboat Philadelphia II. View the Vermont Folklife Center traveling exhibit, In Their Own Words: Stories from Refugees Settled in Vermont.

Native American Encampment & Craft Show
July 12-13

Abenaki and Iroquois re-enactors, will dress in 17th-century garb and will demonstrate singing, and dancing, in LCMM’s second annual celebration of Native American heritage.

Established in 1985, by Executive Director Art Cohn and Board member and former Chairman Bob Beach, Jr., the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum has grown throughout the past twenty-two years from a one-room schoolhouse to a lakeside campus of eighteen buildings and a staff of sixteen full-time employees. LCMM also features a research and education center whose impact ranges throughout the Lake Champlain Basin and beyond. LCMM brings the remarkable past of Lake Champlain into the public consciousness and invests in futures, inspiring children and adults through exhibits, unique special events, and traveling replica vessels that encourage historical perspective and cultural connections between communities.

Messing About in Boats Small Watercraft Festival
July 26-27

This perennial LCMM favorite features LCMM’s small watercraft collection, the Duct Tape Regatta, the Champlain Challenge Race, this year’s new “Really, Really Small Boat Regatta, other great kids activities, music, food, and boatbuilders from Vermont, New York, and New England showing their wares.

Rabble-In-Arms Living History Weekend
August 16-17

Perhaps the most popular of all LCMM events, this year’s Rabble will include demonstrations of maritime equipment, re-enactors, the raising of a timber-framed building!

Archaeology Weekend
Vermont Discovery CruisesSeptember 13-14

NEW in 2008! Archaeology Weekend features workshops on the water, such as the Native American Archaeology Workshop and Sloop Island ROV/ Shipwreck Excursion, special tours of LCMM exhibits and archaeology lab. There will also be archaeology-themed talks and lectures.

Maritime Storytelling Festival
October 11-12

First Annual: Lake Champlain Storytelling Festival will showcase the region’s best storytellers, historians, and fireside yarn-spinners and give them a chance to share their knowledge of the lake and the Lake Champlain Region.
